ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Each crowtoon can be ordered in either of three versions. First is a fine quality print, perfect for
framing, mounting on a backing board, sticking to your fridge - whatever you want. The paper used is the
best presentation matte paper available. It is highly fade resistant and takes on great saturated colors.
Only pigment inks are used, which means the colors won't fade over time. The print comes unsigned and
unmatted. Because it's much lighter, the mailing cost is less than for the matted products. The size of
the print is the same as for the matted version. The cost for a single print is $9.95.
The second choice is a professionally produced giclee of a Nicky510 crowtoon. A giclee is the process
used by fine art painters to get the best possible reproduction of their work. Rather than buy an original
for $40,000, many people will opt for the $5,000 giclee instead. In our case, it's used to create a
totally kick ass image at a very reasonable price. The crowtoon is reproduced in archival pigment
inks on 100 percent rag, acid free, textured artist's paper - the really good stuff. The crowtoon
is signed by Crow and then hand matted, backed, and enclosed in a dust-free jacket. All
that "acid-free, archival pigment" stuff means it'll be looking super great as
long as we're likely to be around. Two typical examples are shown at the top of the page.
The cost is $22.99
The third option is an artist's original. Early crowtoons are hand-inked and sent
unmatted (unless otherwise requested). Black and white, since my coloring occurs digitally. More recent
vintage originals are penciled, as both inking and coloring has migrated over to the computer these days.
Truth to tell, most people actually prefer pencils as you get to see all of the layout and free linework
that inking eliminates. In either case, these go for $119.99 and come with
an unmatted giclee of the finished crowtoon as well. A deal and a half! If you're interested in this option be sure
to contact me directly
first so we can verify availability.
The interior dimensions of the mat opening (for the matted prints) are 7.5" x 9.5" and the outer dimensions
are 11" x 14". All you need to do is plunk it in a frame and you're good to go. Or hang
it on the wall as-is.
If you're interested in purchasing two crowtoons, the second will be half price as long as it's
either the same type or a
less expensive one (for instance, regular price matted and half price print but not regular price print and half price matted).
Yup - 50% off.
Because the PayPal software isn't brilliant (whether you buy via credit card or PayPal on their site) the
total cost that'll come up for two will be exactly double the single price. What I will do once I
get the order is send a refund back to you so that the end result to you is what I've stated above - one at full price and one at 50% off.
I'll refund the difference between the actual shipping cost and what PayPal calculates as well (since it may double the single item cost).
Please make sure you enter the month, day and year of the crowtoon you're choosing because without that information I won't know which one you want.
And be sure to use the box corresponding to where you live since the postal costs are calculated based on that. The Add to Cart buttons aren't
linked to any particular crowtoon - there just happened to be three columns of crowtoons and three shipping destinations (US/Can/Int'l). I inserted a new
row of buttons after each row of crowtoons for convenience - it's easier to make sure you're entering the
right date this way.
As a reminder - you can't order an artist's original this way - you'll need to contact me directly first.
I'm often asked what kind of print would be best for a particular person and to
answer such questions I've started to make up some suggested groupings. So, if you're looking
for a gift for a biologist, or anthropologist or maybe a paleontologist - then take
a look at these. Is there a chef in your life? Give these a gander. Musician? Well,
one of these might strike the right note. Artist? Well, all of them, but perhaps these in particular. Someone who likes dogs? These will please. |
