Classic basketball move. Jerk to the right and then drive to the left. If your opponent falls for it, he’s off balance, having started to his left (your right), and is unable to stop you as you drive to the basket, shoot and score!

Well, it’s not just human basketball players that’ve figured this out. As is the case with most all human accomplishments, it’s already been done by something else in the natural world. In this case, a water snake. Thanks to some high speed photography which you can see HERE  we’re treated to a slow motion fake, grab, and swallow.

The little fish’s first mistake is swimming RIGHT NEXT TO A WATER SNAKE!! That’s clearly error number one. Survival tip – don’t go right up to something that wants to eat you. Make him work for his meal. Seriously.

In addition to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, our fish is overconfident. He knows he’s fast. And when he senses a vibration in the water to his left he takes off like a rocket to the right. Excellent idea. Unless the snake used part of his body to cause the vibration and is moving his head toward you with mouth agape. The result? You actually swim right into his mouth. I’m sure the fish’s last thought must have been "DOH!"

(btw – make sure you wait out the commercial at the start. After that’s done you’ll first see some real time video and then the super slow-mo that shows exactly what’s going on)
