I was in Southern California some time back and woke up early with a determination to find something worth photographing. I knew there was a beach nearby and, although it was way too crowded with people during the day, I figured the morning might bring something more interesting.
It always pays to arrive before dawn and stay after sunset if you're looking for nice imagery and that sure proved to be the case here. I could tell from the lightening glow in the sky about where the sun would be popping up and positioned myself in a suitably comfy, but sandy, location. Lots of time to set the F-stop, shutter speed, and all the rest of that photographic jazz.
