It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
Aristotle
So true and so not-common. Good debaters know this very well – the whole point is to construct cogent and logical arguments in favor of a position, whether the debater believes it or not.

Man, I sure do like you. You have created something that brings joy into people's lives. You use the fan base that you have acquired as a way to help expand others' viewpoints, to give them something to think about and hopefully enlighten them. I appreciate the fact that there are some other people in the world who make an effort to be not ignorant and to share their knowledge in hopes that someone else will consider it, or that they'll learn something themselves along the way.
I agree with your post 100%.
Rock on.
Thank you Angela. I truly appreciate hearing you say that.
Crow, I agree with what your saying, and for the most part education is supposed to be teaching us HOW to think, not WHAT. That being said, my being a full time student again after many years has opened my mind to a lot of problems in the education system. Some teachers are more fanatical then educational. Which is really a sad commentary on what a "college education" means these days. On the other hand, I also have teachers that are wonderful, so…..
Also, I wanted to tell you, I truly look forward to coming to nicky510 every day. I never know if I will get a comic or a commentary, but either way, I enjoy both.
Very true. The danger for all teachers is becoming accustomed to what they've taught before and not rethinking the material each and every class. I've seen a lot of crummy teachers but every once in a while you get a really good one and the goal then is to try and stick with him or her.
What kind of degree are you after?
I am pursuing my BS in Chemistry with a minor in Criminal Justice.
William – Thanks so much for the positive feedback on Nicky510 – that really makes my day. Truly.
Keeping the classes fresh in Chemistry is going to be tough for the prof since it's pretty much the same material each time. So there's a big danger of "prof bored = student bored." Not much controversy on viewpoint though. Chemical reactions pretty much just do what they do
But Criminal Justice … I would expect Criminal Justice to have tons of opportunities for fresh rethinking and great discussions. I bet these are the ones with the most obvious cases of "the prof presents the only 'correct' view – their own."
This might have been a more useful post BEFORE the elections, but thank you.

I don't know what I look forward to most – the Nicky cartoons or Crow's blog. Thanks so much for putting your thoughts out there the way you do.
You're quite welcome – it's my pleasure
