Wow, fun times in the Bay Area. Our latest educational scandal involves a "university" that was apparently set up purely to take $5400 a semester from non-US folks (almost entirely from one area of India from what it seems) and provide a form of immigration status to them. Nothing to do with education. From what I've read the "students" aren't present at the "university" and many of the listed "faculty" didn't know they were listed. Whew! The article I read had a single quote from the head of the whole operation: "Now you graduate, we would like to hear from you, about life and how the study at TVU and the degree do to your career, not just your million dollar donation!" Um, yeaaah.

But am posting because of my outrage? Yes, but not outrage at the scam. Outrage at the art! Here's a screenshot of the "university"'s front web page.

It looks like it was designed by someone in middle school! I'm supposed to buy into it being a real and professional place?! I don't think so. If it were still 1995 that might have been okay but today? Come on. And it gets worse. Shown next is their official seal:

WHAT?! What was this created with, Photoshop Elements version 0.4? Clearly it has no existence beyond a web-based one. So very crude. Yellow letter on a white background? T, V, and U not even centered? A 6 page comic book above an illegible motto that perhaps says "Let there be suckers?"

This is all anyone needs to realize TVU is an empty promise. Seriously, never trust bad design.
