Whew. Long, long drive home today. Getting up at 3:30 and out the door at 5:20 meant missing LA traffic (well – at least most of it) and making good time. But still – 7 1/2 hrs in the car gets a bit tiring.
Anyway, I’m home at last, have just had a super duper homemade pizza with "the world’s best margarita" (not my own creation – I followed the recipe from the web. And it IS a pretty awesome margarita, probably the best I’ve had. So I made two
). And I’ve pretty much unpacked and gotten sort of settled. So – it’s time for more updating. And first, the most important thing – my first pic of a happy new print owner:

Because I’m so new to the whole con scene I completely forgot to take any pics of the happy new owners of all the other crowtoon prints. Luckily, on the last day, in the last hour or so of the con, I finally remembered. Doh! So here we’ve got Sarah, who came by earlier in the week and then made sure to make a beeline back before the end to pick up her print. Yay for Sarah! I totally approve of the choice – that’s one of my personal favorites and I’m wearing the Tshirt from the NickyGear shop that carries this image even as I type.
So. What was the official Nicky510 table like? Well, it was created literally the night before the con, on the hopeful thought that I’d be able to get in and registered for a table. Luckily, the stars aligned and I did, in fact, get a table. And this is what it looked like on Sunday:
I’d already sold a bunch of the prints and I didn’t want the display to be limited to the ones remaining. So what I did was wake up at 4 AM (depressing trend here, isn’t there?) and made a screen saver collection that cycled through a lot of my single panels. I had two batteries and that lasted pretty much for all day. So there was a continuous show of crowtoons on the computer in the center of the table and prints on either side, along with sketches that I did at the con.
Notice the exquisite banner. That’s 100%, genuine craft paper. I put the title, Nicky and ELF up with a wide brush and a bottle of Sumi ink and boom – instant banner. I think for Comic-Con 2010 I’ll do something just a bit more elaborate. But, hey, it was cheap and quick and got the job done, right?
Okay, I lied when I said I was all settled in. Actually I’m pretty beat and I think those two margaritas are kicking in. So I’m gonna end now and continue at a later date. See y’all later.

Congrats on a job well done!!

Interesting! I’m excited to go to my first convention, whenever one is close enough to me to go. I might just ask your advice for how to grab a table like that. Looks good!

Cons are exhausting, exhilarating, depressing, and inspirational, all in one. Exhausting – sitting for hours and hours. Exhilarating – Hey, I’m a professional sharing space with fellow pros!. Depressing – Why aren’t people stopping at my table?!! Inspirational -Wow, look at what these guys are doing. I’m gonna do that myself!
I look forward to meeting you in a future Artist’s Alley!
I soooo wish I could have gone. Next year for sure!
Congraturations !!!
It sounds a great success for the first show exihbit.
I regret that I have been out for visiting my 96 years old mother in Kyoto for past 10days or so.
Thus not kept up to your messages.
Thanks so much. Visiting you mother is a fair bit more important than checking up on my posts!
