From The Sketchpad – 2/7/2010
November '07 to February '10. How big a difference in the artwork will that engender? Well, I can answer that question pretty easily. Just take a gander at the following comparison image:
The first is our Not Just Nicky toon from February 3rd. And the second is a "final" strip from November 1st, 2007. Of course, this predates Nicky510 by a fair bit and was part of a Nicky adventure that played out over several episodes. In the intervening time I decided that Lex and Nicky shouldn't be so separated in age and size. And obviously, my take on how to represent Nicky changed as well. (Someday I'll show you the REALLY early versions of Nicky.)
So what we have here is essentially the same setup, same joke, but quite a different final look and feel. What do you think?

being a big brother I would have to say Nicky is even more annoying…er, true to life, in February’s strip as well. Plus the new art is more expressive. I love the larger eyebrows and rolled eyes in the third panel.
But he MEANS well …
