Perspective is worth 80 IQ points.
Today's insight courtesy of Alan Kay. And it's so very true. And the only way to gain perspective is through experience. It doesn't matter how intelligent you might be, you're going to be at a huge disadvantage when lining up against someone who has amassed more experience than you have. It's expressing something similar to the well known "Old age and treachery will defeat youth and beauty." Street smart versus book smart. If you can't outfight 'em, out-think 'em.
And that's the reason to seek out experiences. Keep doing the same old thing and you'll get very familiar with one point of view. But that's not gonna get you much perspective on the bigger picture, is it? The more you learn, the more connections you draw, and the more perspective you'll gain.
If you're given the choice of being smart or being lucky it's said you should pick lucky. But even better to have the experience to know what to do with the luck.
- And that's today's word from the bird

This is sooo true.
