I didn't know there was a sequel to the animated film. They probably made it up, as there was no sequel to the book (Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, which I actually liked better).
There was a book sequel, titled "Rasco and the Rats of NIMH" (written by O'Brian's daughter), but the second movie was not based on it, at least as far as I can tell. There is also a third book written by the daughter. These two books are not written with the same feel as the original, at least I think. . .
So that's how the Secret of NIMH really started! =)

The bandanna is a great touch to this. It makes him look real BA like a pirate or TMNT.
Basically I started out wanting to draw a mouse/rat with a bandana. The gag evolved from there!
