Birds are a lot nastier opponents in actual then most people realize. Those with strong beaks for breaking nuts can be particularly harsh.
My mother used to have peafowl on her ranch. She also had a 85 pound ‘heinz-57′ dog who was competent in ridding the ranch of anything from snakes to opossums to raccoons (not an easy task when there’s a rather deep pond on the property).
The dog and a 15 pound peacock tangled and the peacock broke BOTH the dog’s front legs.
For some reason, the dog gave all peacocks a wide berth until his death 6 years later.
Thats gonna be one expensive Vet bill!
BTW, Kens comment, so true! I laughed so hard I hurt my self!
Oh yes so true. I woke the whole house up laughing.
god i love that bird…
He’s a sweetie!
LOL.

Yikes! Now I realize why my mom freaked out when a 5 year old me tried to hand-feed a peacock.
Interesting thing about the peafowl during mating season.
The peacock goes into his “dance” and he grabs almost every eye in the neighborhood… human, animal, bird, color-sighted and color-blind.
There is only one critter that doesn’t watch a peacock on “His Strut”… the peahen (the very one he’s trying to impress). That’s so much like a female.
Same with a turkey. Hilarious to watch the guys strut and the gals concentrate on eating.
