GROOOOOOOAN
I really don't get today's comic at all….
Other than the possible Phantom of the Opera spinoff, the bird isn't a duck and there doesn't seem to be anything funny going on.
JGK: A bantam is a type of chicken, not a duck – a "miniature" sort of chicken. This strip is one of Crow's excellent visual puns… If you don't get this type of humor, I'd respectfully suggest staying away from SoMuchPun.com
Crow: I didn't read the title at first, and couldn't figure out what the pun would be (tho I recognised that it was based on Phantom)… but then after reading the title, I'm like Dani… GROAN
Right you are! And I actually realized an hour ago that having the title in the toon itself would be useful. After a refreshing cup of tea and a morning bun – it is done.
Luckily it's a GOOD groan …
As a PS – most of the time I spent on this one was the artwork. There'll a blog about it later in the week.
I'm impressed that you know what a Bantam chicken is, that said shouldn't the chicken be half the size of the fair lady given that Bantam chickens are pint size chickens? Ya, I had a bantam chicken as a pet when I was a kid. Also at least in Canada Bantam is also used to refer to a level of hockey league for kids, ie, Bantam League. You could have a chicken in hockey gear reading the part of Puck from a Midsummer Night's Dream. Ya, I'm really stretching it.
Indeed you are
But are you suggesting that you'd expect normal cartoon chickens to be 10 feet tall? Your last name must be Bunyan!
… and she could be a very small woman. No prejudice – just sayin'
.-= Astragali´s last blog ..Paper or Plastic? comic for 20100519 =-.
there is also bantam weight boxing for the size deficient
Touché!
the batman of the opera would have been funny.
this…eh.
Batman/Phantom? I don't see it punning.
Pun damage!! Must . . . make . . . saving . . . throw . . .
Hope you survived!
It's WORSE than Pun damage!!
It's an earworm of chickens performing the Broadway musical!!!
AAARRRrrggh!!
It's just good, old fashioned pun love.
It's a chicken I tell you! A giant cicken!
