I just couldn't stand it anymore. I've seen that "She lost X pounds a day by following this simple tip/ancient rule/etc" ad on my browser one time too many times. Just had to toon it. And if anyone knows what they REALLY say if you click the link, I'm all agog to know.
If you like today's toon, won't you click the "like" button up on your Google reader? Don't have a Google reader account? Just click the RSS feed button that's just below. Of if you're a Facebooker, liking it there is cool too. Believe it or not, "liking" it does a TON for helping Nicky get the attention he needs. Really.
And if you really want to go crazy, you can Digg it.

Hehehehe x] True true!
True, but dont overdo it, starving yourself will only put your body in 'Super energy conservation mode' causing your body to store (make fat of) every bit of energy…
Balance is the key word
all they tell you when you click on the lnk is if you want to know give them money lol.
And particularly ironic since the advertisement I see on the left side of the page is one of those ads!
The simple rule: Eat less and exercise more. And they want you to pay for that blinding flash of the obvious.
Where do you think I see 'em
They're one of the reasons I set up nickyitis.com – a place free from the ads.
That would be two of us seeing that advertisement one time too many. Or in my case, several hundred times too many. I'm absolutely fed up of it. >_<
It just directs you to a site where they offer you some of those miracle pills that make you lose weight without any effort… yeah, right… -_-
YESSS!! Have you seen Dan Long's strip on eqcomics.com that kicks off the "Ad Land" story arc? There's a part that says something like, "Single mom finds THE MEANING OF LIFE by following 1 rule." XD
Like so many others, I'm lookin' at one of those ads on the side of this page as I type this and read the comic. Yes, I am an amazing multitasker. :p
Hey, you want to avoid it – just go the nickyitis.com route.
this is real true…
(*first time commenter, reading archives now*)
also, theres the "easy way to whiten teeth" ones
you have to buy two "free smaples", yet you have to pay for them.
that makes a whole lot of sense.
I think they say something like
"blah blah weight loss blah blah pay us blah we need a new car blah blah and if you dont a kitten will die blah"
but I can't be sure as may have clicked the cross button immediately after seeing the symbol $.
Nah, they usually go along the lines of
"Exercise, and proper diet, like these AWESOME PILLS i got from A TOTALLY LEGITIMATE SOURCE and they are working because they got this one thing in them for 1% thats alreayd in your body, like sugar
BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY
CUZ THEY WORXKS!
LOOK AT THESE REAL TESTIMOWNIES:
"i did it and it worked!"
"gasp i didnt think it would work, but it totally did!"
"i was once just like you, reading some stupid internet ad, but …"
SO BUY BUY BUY!

The most astounding is that they all have the exact same "giant page with form at the bottom" layout, makes me think there's a giant coca-cola-esque company monitoring all scams…
I think it says “send us $49.95 and we’ll email you the answers”. It strikes me as a very clever psychological scam.
I’m particularly hooked by the ones which claim it’s a “weird” rule or tip…
As the song goes: Do more, eat less.
Has anyone noticed the new ones that says it's a fantastic new thing discovered 'by a mom'.
WTF?
All these moms discovering how to whiten teeth / loose weight / travel through time are springing up everywhere!
I got a pop-up once.
It said acai berries happened to be the tip.
Im a nerd, I know.
I’ve checked those before, just for kicks. They’re selling acai berries or the like, or at least were when I saw.
Alright, just reading the archives and had to jump in at this one.
Those are the sites that actually ‘help’ as it were.
I gotta agree with everyone here on those sites, they’re terrible and just want your $$ for either nothing or made-up bull crap.
Now, on the flip side, there are sites that will sell things, but you can usually take a lot of information from them without having to buy stuff. I am an ‘internet marketer’ as some people say. (usually like a dirty word…) But I do try and provide actual, useful information to people without them even having to enter in any info.
Anyways, greatly enjoying the comic! Still catching up to the start though…
Meh. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been fat should be able to comment on weight loss. You guys have no idea what it’s like. As it happens, yeah, that is the best way to lose weight and it’s how I did, but it’s not like it’s simple or easy.
I will have to agree with this one, however its also important to highlight the fact of moderation is needed and for it to be more known about ones own metabolic rate, genetics, and other factors that may effect it. personally though I hit jack pot on genetics
love my metabolism
